It’s all pretty exciting but at least in one way it’s a throwback. It Has No Live View (no live composing using the Hi Res screen) Though the RAW preview feature would be great for static or planned shots.  So  unlike the new micro 4/3rd’s standard which dispenses with the viewfinder altogether the A900 has some super fancy 100% coverage doohickey to look through.  I don’t look through those things when I take pictures.

On the plus side it has a whole bunch of dynamic range optimizers built into it which will really help.  I currently take 3 sets of bracketed shots just to get on decent HDR.  Sometimes my computer doesn’t want to process 9 raw photos into one image even though I have 8 gigs of RAM and a 64 bit operating system.  The one shot photos that come out of my olympus 410 never seem to be good enough.

Finally this image sensor was announced in january so all the other companies must have known it was coming. I wonder what Nikon, Canon and Olympus have up their sleeves.  Also If sony put the sensor in a stripped down model and sold it for 1,500 bucks there might not be any other companies around after a while. All this would depend on whether the images that come out of the camera are actually as amazing as one would expect from the specs. There are some “mystery” samples here but nothing definitive is known.

  1. wow! I think I am gonna get this one ,it is getting better and better.

on a slightly different note. I spent like five minute avoiding the “tooltip” SNAP, I could barely point my mouse over a link without that thing appearing. This is really irritating and not use friendly at all.Just mes deux centimes.
